Hi, I’m Matthew, and welcome to BakedBean3D! I’m a software engineer by day and a 3D printing enthusiast by night. Working on machines — from computers to motorcycles — is my passion.

Back in 2022, I got my first 3D printer, an AnkerMake M5, and pretty soon I was hooked. I began building and modding my own printers and getting involved in the 3D printing community. From helping people with print issues and writing documentation on upgrades that weren't user-friendly, to helping investigate and fix software bugs in various printing software - I like to help. I taught myself Shapr3D and Fusion360, and have been uploading my designs to Printables.com, where I’ve gained over 1000 downloads.

My goal is to make things that make people’s lives easier and more fun.

A meme is actually part of the reason for our shop’s name. A couple years ago, we came across an Instagram video of a chinchilla who gets told that he’s “built like a baked bean” (if you’re extremely online like we are, you might have heard that soundbite being used in other videos). We’ve been quoting that clip at each other ever since. So when it came time to name our shop, we thought, why not? Plus, we live in Chicago, which famously has “The Bean” sculpture (aka “Cloud Gate”). And now all our products are built BY BakedBean.
